I noticed your comment on the moss... According to something I read, you can cultivate moss fairly simply.
Apparently, you get some moss in its fresh state and pour milk into a blender and add the moss. You then blend it slightly (just to break up the moss evenly through the mixture) and pour it over the area you want to get moss to grow on. Of course, you also the object has to be situated in an ares where moss would be likely to grow, sunny, cool, and wet.
The milk gives the moss something to feast on and allows the spores (or whatever) to get into the nooks and crannies to allow it to get some purchase.
I am sure you could find something on the internet about growing moss. If I find anything, I will pass it along. I haven't tried this but if I recall, it came from a reputable source... perhaps from the head gardener at Government House (the home of the Governor General of Canada) who does a weekly gardening spot on the CBC.

It is worth a try!
What do you know... Googling comes up with plenty of mentions of moss "milk shakes", as well as yogurt and buttermilk.
Google: moss milk and you will find plenty.
Now that's a contented kitty!
