Bowling Fun
Fun @ the bowling alley

It was new found fun for the kids learning to bowl.
However, for us the parents.
It's a case of literally "throwing" money into the longkang(gutter)!!

"An Act of Kindness is worth a thousand prayers"
Extracted from an email I received.

This little girl is at the PHUKET HOSPITAL - She does not remember her own name or anything about herself. She has lost her parents. She was a victim of the tidal wave disaster in Phuket, Thailand and nobody knows who she is.

*UPDATE* Extracted from here (Link provided by the Bitch@Workz)
On 29 Dec. 2004, Sophia was able to be transported from Thailand to Germany, and is receiving further medical treatment here. (Germany) She is doing reasonably well considering the circumstances. She is being lovingly cared for by her relatives. The status of her parents is at this point unknown.
Through the attention of the media and the help of local citizens, it was possible to identify her relatives and deliver Sophia into their hands.

Weekend SnapShot #51

Weekend SnapShot

A trip to an offshore island - Pulau Ubin, north-east of Singapore.

Pulau Ubin,Singapore

Bringing my city kids to the rural island was quite an experience with them.
With hardly no tall-rise buildings and automobiles.
They experienced what it was to be living in the "Kampong" (Kampong meaning village in Malay) for just a day.
We cycled around the island on our rented bicycles, which explains why my entire body is aching currently!

The kids and their father had some fun near the water catching shrimps with a pathetic plastic bottle.
Etymology

The name Pulau Ubin literally means "Granite Island" in Malay, which explains the many abandoned granite quarries there. The word ubin is said to be a Javanese term for "squared stone". To the Malays, the island is also known as Pulau Batu Ubin, or "Granite Stone Island". The rocks on the island were used to make floor tiles in the past and were called Jubin, which was then shortened to Ubin.

The island is known as chioh sua in Hokkien, which means "stone hill".

Burn in them!
These metal bin incinerators are used by the Chinese in burning paper offerings during prayers. To avoid particles from flying all over the place and polluting the air.
